Coalitions
We routinely lead bipartisan and nonpartisan coalitions that strengthen our democracy. Read about the coalitions we lead and our collaborative work.
Along with the Foundation for American Innovation, we co-lead the left-right Congressional Data Coalition. For the benefit of the general public, we encourage Congress to broadly disseminate information about congressional activities and to create congressional information in ways that optimize its reuse and facilitate its long-term preservation. We marshal coalition members to create, share, and collaborate on legislative data byproducts for further reuse. And we educate Congress on the benefits of open data and partner with it to improve internal processes.
This group instigated the creation and sustained the development of the newly minted Congressional Data Task Force.
The Advisory Committee educates policymakers on transparency-related issues, problems, and solutions and shares ideas with members of the Congressional Transparency Caucus. It hosts events to discuss important and wide-ranging transparency policy issues with experts from a variety of backgrounds and develops educational publications and provides timely information to the public and members of Congress.
Future Congress is a resource hub for efforts to improve science and technology expertise in the Legislative branch. Future Congress aims to strengthen congressional support agencies and committees, build a robust technology assessment program inside the Legislative branch (e.g., reviving the Office of Technology Assessment or strengthening GAO’s Science, Technology Assessment, and Analytics team), and improve staffing and human capital. We also want to help advance modern information technology infrastructure, the publication of legislative data in machine readable formats, and other modernizations.
